Pickup schedule
Bring your approved food scraps bag (see FAQ below for requirements) to the collection points every Friday. In the Brinton Clubhouse, there will be a table in the hallway just past the CVS store, Hair Salon, and the Medical Center. In the Cardinal Clubhouse, there will be a table by the mailboxes.
Be sure to tie your food scrap bag (no twist ties allowed)! We suggest you bring it in a STURDY reusable bag so that there are no drips in the hallway. The table will be staffed by fellow residents from 9:30 am to noon. If you miss a collection date, just put the bag out IN your regular trash or keep it in your refrigerator or freezer until the next Friday!
Resident Food Scrap Drop-Off Guidelines
Collect your food scraps and leftovers for composting, instead of adding them to your trash.
Review the following list of Acceptable and Unacceptable items.
Collect your food scraps in a container in your refrigerator or freezer, or in a countertop container with a secure lid.
DRAIN any liquid content.
Every Friday, bring your food scraps to the Brinton or Cardinal clubhouse collection points. Use an APPROVED food scrap compostable bag (not plastic, not just biodegradable), closed with a knot.
To avoid leaks and spills, put the compostable bag into a sturdy, reusable bag and take it to the clubhouse between 9:30 and 12 PM. Look for the green bin beyond the medical center and salon in Brinton or by the mailboxes in Cardinal.
If you have a problem taking your food scraps to the collection point, each building has a volunteer who will take your bag for you! Contact Loretta Knight to find your neighbor who has volunteered to help.
